pledge of allegiance

Kids are the best riders.

They don’t necessarily have the skills or strength, but they have the spirit and enthusiasm. They don’t care about labels, brands or categories; they care about fun. The Best Friends Bike Club is rooted in this spirit. We’re childish—in a good way—and why not? Mountain biking is meant to be fun, and we’re trying to take it back to its roots.

We pinky swear that we’ll:
- Shred some fun trails
- Do a few cool races
- Drink some beers
- Volunteer in our community
- Share our stories
- Say "hi" when we see you on the trail
- Inspire new riders
We'll have about 20 riders doing some cool stuff in 2012. Just look at what we've already been doing...

Volunteer work
*Spencer is Director of the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference. In 2011, he contributed around 75 hours of his time, whether it be helping students promote races, pre-running downhill courses or conducting intro clinics for new riders.
*Joe coaches the Fairview High School Mountain Bike Team. This year, he’s run team practices, coached the team at races and instructed new riders, voluteering close to 100 hours of time.
*Keith just began coaching the University of North Carolina Cycling Team this fall and so far has donated 80 hours of his time helping them train, plan for races and recruit new riders.
*CT Organized a Pro-Am Craft Beer Fundraiser to donate $11,000 to Trips For Kids, the organizations largest single donation ever.

2011 Racing
*Spencer finished 14th at the Trestle All-Mountain Enduro, won the Winter Park Super-D and won the Keystone Mountain State Cup Super-D.
*Joe finished 5th in the amateur category at the Trestle All-Mountain Enduro.
